Olivia
Your time on earth was short
Your days here only few
But the memory of your faith-filled eyes
Inspires me to write what's true
So kids can know the message
That in your heart you held so dear
And one day see your faith-filled eyes
From which God has wiped every tear
Your days here only few
But the memory of your faith-filled eyes
Inspires me to write what's true
So kids can know the message
That in your heart you held so dear
And one day see your faith-filled eyes
From which God has wiped every tear
Olivia was in my class for what was to be her last term at school. One morning, while I was sharing a devotion with the students, I noticed that Olivia was looking at me with an incredible intensity. As I spoke, she acknowledged through her expressions and gestures that she understood, she knew, she agreed, she believed. It was as if her eyes were filled with faith.
This moment became a memory that inspired me to continue speaking and writing the truth to children about the one through whom all things were made, the giver of life eternal – Jesus. Olivia entered paradise with him after a brave battle with leukaemia. The poem above is dedicated to her.
You can help children who are currently fighting this same battle, by making a donation to the Leukaemia Foundation. Even a small amount makes a big difference to these courageous kids and their families. For more information or to donate click here.
